This law, designed as a public safety law, prohibits operators of motor vehicles on the city's roadways from holding or using a hand-held wireless cell phone while on any city roadway, regardless of whether you are stopped in traffic.
There are some exceptions to the law, and I invite you to review those here: https://meridiancity.org/police/handsfree
Essentially, this is designed to make out roads safer by limiting the distractions we often face while driving in Meridian. For those who frequent Eagle Road and other major roadways, you have undoubtedly had experiences where distracted drivers have either caused crashes, delays, road rage or any number of other issues.
Let's support the City of Meridian, and the public as a whole, and keep our eyes and our minds on the road.
